Living will
By means of a private written living will, you can decide on the organisation and scope of future medical measures. In a living will, you also define whether certain medical measures are desired or should be omitted if you are no longer able to decide for yourself in the specific situation.
Healthcare proxy
A health care proxy enables you to entrust another person with the management of your affairs in the event that you lose your own decision-making capacity, for example due to a tragic accident, illness or old age. By authorising a trusted person through a power of attorney, you can avoid having a stranger take care of your affairs in court. You remain capable of acting through your chosen trusted person, e.g. in exercising your patient rights, determining your whereabouts or managing your company.
Care decree
The care directive applies in the event that legal care is ordered by the care court. They specify which person the court should appoint as a carer. You also specify which person(s) should not be appointed as a carer under any circumstances.
